Muchas veces me han preguntado porqué realizo bordados en punto cruz. ¿Decoración? ¿Terapia? ¿Emprendimiento para vender? Bueno, hay muchas razones... bordar es principalmente un hobby, un pasatiempo, un disfrute y una terapia: todos los que realizamos alguna manualidad (cualquiera que esta sea) sabemos que mientras estamos en plena labor sentimos el placer de realizar un objeto único, diferente, creado por nosotros mismos (aún cuando estemos siguiendo un modelo o patrón). Aún cuando nadie vea el trabajo que realizamos, el sentimiento de realización y bienestar personal está siempre presente.
Por otro lado, exhibir lo que hacemos es parte innata de ser humano... exponerlo, ensalzarlo, tenerlo a la vista. Entonces, sí, también bordo en punto cruz para decorar mi hogar, mis pertenencias, todo lo que me rodea. Con ello alegro mi entorno y a la vez puedo apreciar siempre mi trabajo, con todas sus virtudes ¡y con todos los errores que le encuentre!
Ahora... ¿hacer dinero con él? Bueno, ¡ahí está la parte más difícil! El mundo está lleno de bordadoras profesionales, capaces y dedicadas exclusivamente a bordar y bordar. ¿Qué poder de acción puede tener una sola persona que lo realiza en sus tiempos libres? La web nos permite borrar distancias y barreras... mostrar lo que hacemos sin importar a dónde estemos. Con este blog no sólo acerco lo que hago sino que tal vez algún día alguien se interese en mis piezas lo suficiente como para invertir dinero en ellas. O tal vez no. ¡Pero no importa! Ninguna de nosotras bordarmos solamente para vender... ninguna de nosotras dejará de hacerlo si nadie compra uno de nuestros trabajos. Bordamos, decoramos, regalamos, apreciamos, nos relajamos y nos sentimos un poco más felices a través de esta manualidad... ¡y el dinero no tiene el poder de cambiar esto!

Many times I’ve been asked why I stitch. Decoration? Therapy? To make money? Well, I have several reasons… to embroider is mainly a hobby, a pleasant time and a therapy: every art and craft (whatever it may be) gives a sense of pleasure when we realize we are creating a unique, different piece with our hands (even if we are following a model or a pattern). It doesn’t matter if anybody sees the piece we are creating, the fulfillment and pleasure are still there.
On the other hand, to exhibit and expose what we create is an innate part of the human being. So, yes, I also stitch to decorate my home, my belongings. I leave my mark on my surroundings and at the same time it gives me the chance to appreciate my work with all its virtues and with all the errors I may find on it!
Now… to make money? Well, that’s the hardest part! The world is full of cross stitch professionals, exclusively dedicated to stitch and stitch. What can a single person who does this labor on her free time do? The web allows us to conquer distances and barriers, to show what we do, no matter where we may be. With this blog I don’t only expose what I do but also, maybe, someday, somebody will interest on my pieces enough to invest his/her money on them. Or maybe not. But it doesn’t matter! None of us stitch only for the money… none of us will stop stitching if nobody buys one of our pieces. We embroider, decorate, gift, appreciate, relax and feel a little bit happier through this activity… and money doesn’t have the power to change that!
